Cheryl runs the Support Group for people with Traumatic Brain Injury. Cheryl is a survivor of a head injury. She uses many adaptive techniques in her own personal life to help with cognitive tasks (i.e., memory and budget related tasks).
Daily calendar.
Post-its (of many sizes and colors).
Timers and Double Timers.
Clearly marked sites for household items (i.e., keys, shopping lists, cleaning tickets, other significant information such as phone numbers, e-mail addresses, doctors numbers, etc.).
Key hooks for my keys and a friend with a spare set.
I use the computer every day. I work on memory and identifi-cation of patterns to help with cognitive function in general.
The key to my success is my daily calendar. It is the way I compensate for the place in my brain that is damaged. This calendar has names and addresses of key people in my life, lists of videos and cds that I want to rent and/or buy and a small note pad for thoughts and feelings it is an essential part of my life.
